4. Tape then caulk. For a professional-looking job, apply parallel strips of tape first along the length of the joint. Use blue painter's tape and have them around 3/8 of an inch apart. The caulk should go between these two strips and the tape should help keep the application straight, even, and away from surfaces where it shouldn't be.
Once again a favorite game played at baby shower occasions. Fill a bowl half-way with uncooked rice. In the rice hide safety pins (be careful). The guest is blind folded and is asked to retrieve the pins. Winner is the one who has salvaged the most pins in an allotted time period.
What could start out as a harmless brown tinge along the edges of the caulk, could eventually lead to brittleness and cracks. Leaks in turn, pave the way for water to ooze in, causing mold and mildew buildup, or could loosen tiles in the surrounding area. Once it reaches that point, the repair process can be more expensive and time-consuming. Get rid of leaky or aging caulk before this happens!
These days, homes are becoming large, and bathrooms, even larger. In fact, bathrooms, which were neglected earlier, are getting as much attention as the living room. Naturally, home owners are leaving no stone upturned to transform their bathrooms into home spas. The accessories to be fitted into these huge bathrooms have to be equally massive. No wonder, there is no dearth of gigantic tubs which resemble mini-pools, along with extra long shower curtains, that tower several inches above the shower head and sweep the floors of your bathroom. However, the market is still full of standard size bathroom furnishings, thereby making it difficult to hunt for extra long curtains for high fitted showers.
